HIGH FIVE yeah i’m like 150 pages in (which is further than my previous attempt made it!) and GOSH i have no idea how i found it so challenging before because even though there’s absolutely loads of it, everything’s brilliant? like last time i don’t think i realised just how witty he is and how beautifully put-together some parts are. i’m really really impressed and really glad i’ve made the effort to read it again.

i don’t like any of ricky gervais’ programmes so basically i decided to watch the us one and parks and rec def wouldn’t exist w/o it is the conclusion i made. once it gets out of the uk shadow (& its own show season 2 on) it’s amazing.
original is better imo, but the american office grows on you because of how much longer it ran (my theory, anyway) also they do some of the original’s jokes like the jello stapler early on. can’t watch it since steve carrell left though ;__;
yeah I’m not a fan of Gervais much past the original Office either (Extras is alright but he definitely slipped down the “being cynical and self-indulgent while constantly pointing out how cynical and self-indulgent you are being is a decent replacement for jokes” route while making it, also I’m now getting “conversations I had an hour ago” deja vu)
and I can definitely see how it being successful would’ve helped Parks and Rec get past one season!
also, the American Office having gone on much longer is in some ways a thing that’s put me off watching it, if I go to check out something I think I should watch and there’s already a million episodes I just go “aw shit I didn’t even finish watching Gurren Lagann, let’s find something that got cancelled”
but at the same time I can totally see how it going on longer would win it a place in your heart

haha yes! that said, the Jewish way sucks on fast days where you go to sleep hungry and wake up hungry and carry on being hungry til it gets dark
but it’s definitely a lot easier to tell when the change occurs, I only really register midnight when Skype tells you that the day’s changed in the conversation window.
